4. XAS rebuilding

In no case you need to recompile XAS after installation

However in case you want to make a full reload (recompilation of all libraries and relinking of all programs) for any reasons, here are the instructions.

• VMS users

  The facilities for building XAS under VMS are very primitive and simple. Just :
  • make sure the logical $XASTOP is defined correctly
  • go to the [.CONFIG] subdirectory

• Unix users

  The facilities for building XAS under Unix are based on make. To make life easier, the necessary Makefiles are generated automatically by the xasbuild utility.
  This way also upgrades of a few modules can be handled automatically.

  A full reload will take place if $XASTOP/bin and $XASTOP/lib are empty. You should also have properly configured xasbuild.

  • make sure that $XASTOP is defined and points to the right place
  • run $XASTOP/config/Scripts/xasbuild (it is actually suggested you create a permanent alias for that).
  • select option 2 to (with no sub-options) to build XAS
  • alternately you may select option 3 to run make without any preliminary check
  • select option 7 to exit
