SAX

What is SAX
SAX (Satellite per Astronomia X) is an X-ray astronomy satellite being developed by
ASI and NIVR.
SAX has been
launched
on 30 April 1996, has undergone its
commissioning,
has terminated the Science Verification Performance phase (Jul-Oct 1996),
and is now (24 Feb 1997) in the first year of the mission.
SAX has been renamed BeppoSAX in honour to
G.P.S. Occhialini,
first director of IFCTR.
